Me just talkin.
No. Not really. Me just found a fun place that lets me fool around with a whole bunch of images so Me don't actually have to sit down and fool around with Photoshop.
Me likes to play around with images. Sometimes the images are the ones that we carry in our minds and occasionally they are ones Me takes with me camera.
Me be creating a series of icons to designate the particular type of post me be writing at the moment; perhaps you have noticed them. There be the Cabo for me frog tales, the mailbox for the Scary post,Me is wondering where the monster be at the moment and why nobody has sent word of his travels Me has not received a ransom demand so me thinks that maybe he will yet still appear. Me is currently working on a whole bunch of other avatars, but between me constant posting and me attempt to acquire enough money to pay for all the things me enjoys; that really doesn't leave me much time to create them.
The Academy awards are coming up and Mrs. Monster has informed me that we are watching them. There goes me thoughts of watching me Buster Keaton DVDs this weekend.
To be honest Me don't dislike Hollywood me just believes that there is so much crap that comes out of the movie studios that it doesn't justify the amount of money they spend on producing them. Yeah Me understands that great movies are made, but they are few and far between.
What are your great movies? pick a few flicks from different parts of your life and let me know what movies had the greatest impact upon you. Me not talking about what you think are the best movies ever made, but the ones that changed you in some way.

wow! there's another person who loves that movie? Me could never find anyone who has even heard of it. And Me might have to include RHPS on me list 'cause when me thinks back that one also had a fairly big influence on me life, but probably more for me sister.
Which ones actually changed your outlook on life?
P.S. the razors edge (Bill Murry one) left too much of an impression on me that it is far too difficult to any of me feelings into words.
Oh I love this topic. I love movies..almost as much as I love books.
When I was very young, GOING to the movies was a BIG event. We saved it for special occasions like birthdays. For my 7th Birthday, my mother took me to see the Sound Of Music at a local theater. They showed it in cinemascope and I'll never forget it. Our parents thought it was important for us to see films like Gone With The Wind on the big screen and Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times as well. Oh and they took us to see They Shoot Horses Don't They (wow, I'll never forget that movie)..and I'm pretty sure we saw Born Free. Remember Bless The Beasts and The Children? My parents were pretty progressive..
Mostly we watched movies on TV when I was a kid. The Wizard of Oz was probably the biggest event for every kid I knew..and when we got older if you watched Hitchcock's The Birds, you were considered cool. In NY you may remember the 4:30 movie on ABC Channel 7. They showed wonderful movies and even though they had commercials and were edited, we all had favs. The Vincent Price Horror Movies. Gypsy, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Gidget week and Annette & Frankie movies impacted my elementary years. But One really, really stands out and horrifed me for years afterwards. We had a baby sitter one Saturday night and she allowed us to watch The House On Haunted Hill. My god I was terrified. For years and years I had to jump into my bed for fear of a snake like rope creeping out from under it and wrapping aorund my ankles. And there was one scene where there was a face looking in a window...scared the shit out of me. I still have to have curtains drawn when its dark out.
When I was older going to the movies was a social thing..we used to go to the drive in..and stuff as many kids into a car as we could. Carnal Knowledge, A clockwork Orange, Shampoo..stuff like that..thats all I can really remember from the drive in, not because I was making out...but mostly because we were all partying...
Later Star Wars, The Exorcist made lasting impressions on me.
Eraserhead, Sophie's Choice, Scarface and the Godfather, Last Tango In Paris, The Graduate...CLASSICS...
Bogart, Hepburn, Film Noir, I could continue but then list would be as long as Pugs. I love the movies..and now that I subscribe to Netflix..I can see independant and Foreign films and movies I amazingly missed along the way. The Motorcycle Diaries, Chocolat, You and me and everyone we know, Pieces of April, Amelie. Garden State..the station agent..Farewell My Concubine..they all move me on one way or another. Lord Of The Rings Trilogy..ohhhhhhhh I really can go on and on.
Thanks for allowing my ramblings..(I think my reply is mos def as long as pugs)
I think being exposed to all of these films has truly changed my way of thinking in that they have added to my pool of experiences that I draw upon in my daily life. I think seeing some of the socially concious films when I was a kid gave me a lasting feeling that I needed to be part of the big picture in the world.
When I see films that show real pain or angish, I know I am not alone when I have those feelings myself.
My dad was a WWII Air Force vet..and his story could b e made into a movie but I'll save that for another post. But when I watched WWII movies when I was a kid..I was getting window on what it must have been like for him.
I love so many of the movies on those lists. I can't even think of any others to add. They are very comprehensive lists. I remember what a long-lasting impression "The Exorcist" left on me. And "House on Haunted Hill." I was literally scared to be home alone at night after seeing those. "To Kill A Mockingbird" is another one that had a deep impact. I'll still watch that one every chance I get.
Scary, the new picture is very becoming. Your other one makes you look too much like (dare I say it?) a ... large pickle. Please forgive me.:)
Oh Serena...YES...To Kill A Mockingbird...TOP 10 FOR SURE..
I had a haircut like young Scout when I was 5-6...guess teh film made it en vogue to chop off your daughters hair..
I'm so happy to know I am not the only one to have been terrified by The House On Haunted Hill. There's safety in numbers.
Leelee, my mother used to cut my hair like that, too. I hated it, because I wanted long hair. I had no idea at the time that I looked like Scout. LOL.
Nope, you're not alone in being scared by THOHH. I'd definitely categorize it as a classic, unlike these awful slash-and-chop horror films today.
Wonderful Ladies~
How well you remind me of certain things, forgotten. The House on haunted hill. Oh my oh my was that frightening flick. leelee you wouldn't happen to be a fan of Barnabus Collins and Dark Shadows, would you? Many of your references point in that direction.
SJ (Subtle Jester)Me can take that sign munching monster down in a New York minute. Me Momma is the great Godzilla herself and she taught me all the tricks of the trade.
A pickle?! Hrumph! STOMP!! LOL
Were you thinking sour or dill?
Serena...indeed...I had no idea I looked like scout either...I hated it too...and on top of the chop, I had to wear "corrective lenses" (read hornrimmed) not a pretty sight. One of these days I'll dig out a photo and post it..
Scary...Of course I was a Dark Shadows Fan......it was on right after Match Game..Gene Rayburn...lol...this is so funny...

Dill, Scary. Don't tell "mama."
Oh, my God, Leelee -- my grandma used to make me watch 'Guiding Light' with her, and then the Match Game. She wouldn't let me watch Dark Shadows, though. I'd always say I needed a nap and head off to my room and turn it on in there.
Y'all are outta my league here.
