What's Me Line

Escape.
Settling back and relaxing with a good book, a great album or a really nice movie be some of the best ways me knows to let go of the hairy bullcrap and give meself a moment of respite.
Even bad books can contain a well written passage and sometimes a movie can contain a single line that will stick in yer head for the rest of yer days.
The film might have been total crap, but the line were delivered with such panache and perfect timing that it be funnier than the entire flick or conveyed so much poignancy that it supports the rest of the story.

Me carries lots of movie lines in me head.
Do You?

Here be one of me favorites.

"A manure spreader Jacknifed on the Santa Ana. God-awful mess. You should see my shoes. whew!"

Chevy Chase in Fletch. Tons of laughs in this film, but this one stomps me.

Here be another.
"Is that old lady squeezing your balls."

Paul Rodriguez in the Whoopee Boys. Killer Movie!

You got lines. Me knows you do. You got friends who got lines. Call 'em over. Lets hear them all.

Me no livin the vida loca.

Real Genius is a collection of great lines as well.

"I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates who said 'I drank what?'"

-Or-

"Look, Kent puts his name on his license plate."
"My mom does the same thing to my underwear."
"Your mom puts license plates in your underwear? How ever do you sit?"

"Do you mind if I name my first child after you? "Dipshit Knight" has a nice ring to it."

Everytime I get hungry I think of Sixteen Candles and the line

"No more yanky my wanky, the donger need food!"

Oh, and let's not forget Ferris Buehler...the whole movie is quotable lines. "Anyone? Anyone?"

Kanrei~ Me loves that movie too. Me even talked to Val about it. Me always loved the line.

Was it a dream where you see yourself dressed up in kind of sun god robes standing on top of a pyramid with all theses nude women throwing little pickles at you.

Why am I the only person who has that dream?

E~ Me aint never seen sixteen candles, but me loves the sound of donger.

YOU NEVER SEEN 16 CANDLES?!?!?!?!

I cannot speak to you again until that mistake is corrected. I expect 1500 words on John Huges contribution to the devolution of America's youth circa 1985 by Monday.

I'm with you, Kanrei--there were so many excellent one-liners in Real Genius.

"Can you hammer a nail through an oak board with your penis?"

"Uh, no. Why?"

"A girl's got to have her standards."

...Make that a three-liner.

And the one noteworthy line from "Broadcast News": "I'll meet you at the place by the thing where we went that time."

Me never forget that famous line uttered by Dorothy to the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz":

"Get your rusty thumb out of my poonani, you filthy piece of shit!"

Yeah - you need to see 16 Candles. The Donger Need Food is a classic. Also: Whassahappenin' Ho'stuff?

One of my favourites, since you brought up Chevy, is spoken by his character, Clark, in Christmas Vacation:

Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is. Hallelujah. Holy shit. Where's the Tylenol?

Yeah. That's another one full of good lines if you like that sorta thing.

"You shoot off a guy's head with his pants down, believe me, Texas is not the place you wanna get caught," from 'Thelma and Louise.'

Definitely everybody should see '16 Candles.'

Doctor: "You've got a brain cloud"
Joe: "A brain cloud?! I knew it! Well, I didn't know it. But I knew it!"

Joe versus the Volcano

Not an excellent film but fantastic dialogue as only the playwright John Patrick Shanley could write it.

Oh Oh...and don't forget another Shanley classic from Moonstruck

Nicolas Cage: "I love you"

Cher (slaps his face)

(slaps him again)

"Snap out of it!"
