That Bloggy Thang

No blogs are created equal.
Me likes that. Me likes that each and every blog Me visits has a different face. Sometimes when me looks at a blog me often be comparing it to a suit of clothes or a dress. Blogs have a fashion sense, ya know and even when they are "off the rack", folks like to spice them up with accessories.

Most times, but not always, you find the bells and whistles in the sidebar. Me has been takin a closer look at peoples sidebars and lookin at their doodads. Me started doin this when me noticed that some folks have me linked to them as 'Scary Monster' and others as 'Me No Blog'. It be about a 60/40 split.

The amount of things you can do with a blank sheet of net-paper often amazes me.

Me has tried to keep things tidy on Me pages.
Me likes the google video bar to add a visual to me posts and Me put in drop down windows to keep long the side bar from becoming longer than me post pages.
Me enjoys changing the comment line so that ties into the daily post as well.
Knowing that folks have to scroll down the page to check out any posts that they might have missed and want to comment on made me think that the recent posts generator that me had once removed from me page had to be reinstalled, so me could respond to folks who be checkin out me back posts.

Me started blogging because me wanted to learn a little more about HTML, but me don't much fool around with the code anymore. The fun be in coloring the pages eventhough me don't always stay inside the lines.

What be your favorite sidebar toys and blog thangy knick knacks?
Whose sidebar impresses you the most?

Me no lost me Crayola Crayons.

Your side bar impresses me the most with the drop down and the videos. Actually I didn't put up a blog roll until I was encourage with yours. I think each person's blog serves a different function. Mine is a writing exercise until I get into vent overload about my health. Then there's an explosion.

I was way too excited when I first learned how to add links on the side of my blog. Me so pathetic.

They ALL impress me. I have no earthly idea how to add anything to a side-bar.

No idea at all.

Right now my favorite part is my music dohicky! I can write amd listen to my favorite stuff.

I have tried to keep mine as simple as possible. There are many who have almost too much stuff and I usually don't take the time to really check out all their stuff....

I really dont pay much attention to the sidebar thing... unless its a new site and I am trying to assess the author. I guess most of the people I comment back and forth with I feel I 'know' somewhat already so i go for the post and comment content. i think i will take your lead though. Oh and I just added you as scary monster... just before coming here and without prompting! *wink

My sidebar is pathetic because I really am not well versed in all of this and just copy things I see that I like (when I actually look! hehehe)

I'm so addicted to sidebar doodads! I bethca you could tell though - my blog is filled with things to explore :) I don't have a favrite, they change constantly. I used to do a lot of HTML, I used to design blog layouts and websites for folks (I still do sometimes) but mostly now I just blog and do my graphics :)

I usually ignore the sidebar in favor of the main content. You and Serena Joy have the best sidebars, though, even though I've never looked at anything in either one.

Content, man, not flash.

My blog reflects my fashion sense--not too fancy but usually pretty tidy. Hey, it works for me. (I'm a flower, dammit, not a monster.)

I like to see who people have on their blogrolls...it's interesting to check out other peoples blogs...especially if I like the comments I read.

Your side bar is great..you are always mixing it up..I don't spend enough time, blogging or fiddling with stuff, life keeps interrupting my blog world...

SJ's sidebar is my favorite. The variety she has is always entertaining. You come a close second.

You are listed as "Scary Monster's Home" on my list simply because it is mainly a list of places I like to go more than a list for other people. My blog is my homepage so I place all my favorite links there for ease of use.

Why do I blog? Because talking to yourself is a sign of insanity, but blogging to no one is par for the course. =D

I only have all that junk in my sidebar because I get bored easily. I figure when I'm spouting nonsense, y'all can go play in the sidebar playpen.

Camille Alexa said...

I almost never play with sidebars on a blog, other than to sometimes peruse the links to other sites and blogs, or to view the author's profile.

leelee~ Me agrees with you. Me often chooses to go to someone's site because they have piqued me interest in the comments section.

Kanrei~ SJ does have a great sidebar, ya? Me likes the day in history thing and the Bush countdown clock she's got there.

SJ~ Bored? At your place? Never!

lbb~ I don't always fiddle around, but me likes the way they add a bit of flash to the whole package.

Pink~ iffin it's lovehandles you gotta yen for, yer in the right place.

Sun~ Yup. That's what makes 'em fun.

Mr. Dyckerson~ Notice how it's at the bottom. A footer, if you will.
Stumble.

I like the widget dealio that shows My Pleasure, My Excitement, My Freedom etc.

Everybody's sidebars are cooler than mine; I just can't be bothered messing with them too much. Plus I worry if I put too much up there, nobody will look.

I didn't lose my Crayola crayons either. In fact, I have a crayon box collection of over 2,000 different boxes including over 1,000 different Crayola boxes and most of their original line from 1903. I can actually say that I have to worlds largest collection of them. Hows that for colorful?

Monster - it's hard enough for me to figure out how to post without wiping out the rest of my blog. I am just taking it one slow day at a time. I learned that in all of my addiction meetings.
