The Great Pumpkin

Me always liked and felt sorry for Linus Van Pelt. He never got no candy 'cause he spent the night in a pumpkin patch waitin' on somthin no one else believed in. But he never did give up hope. Hope. Me believes it be necessary to help you sustain courage when things not going the way you want them to- kinda like gettin no candy on Halloween. Me does believe in the Great Pumpkin. Me actually does grow me own punkins for the holidays and has seen him. He help me to fight despair and believe that good, happy making events are just around the corner. Often we cannot tell if the world is treating us properly. Me know, Me knows YOU think it isn't. Now you gotta ask yourself how much did you contribute before you started making withdrawals. Me asking meself just that very thing. So Me be wondering if it's OK to take something for meself and have some fun for a change.

Delicious Hope! when naught to man it left --

Of fortune destitute, of friends bereft;

When even his dog deserts him, and his goat

With tranquil disaffection chews his coat

While yet it hangs upon his back; then thou,

The star far-flaming on thine angel brow,

Descendest, radiant, from the skies to hint

The promise of a clerkship in the Mint.

Fogarty Weffing

Hope is: Desire and expectation (oft unreasonable) rolled into one.
