Take me to the river

Along a shallow brook lined with fallen leaves that no longer had any color left to them Me rambled, ocasionally hopping upon the stones that were placed there just for that purpose.
The paths that ran along the water switched from one side to another and as me walked along, Me wondered if somebody had planned this random fractured passage.
Me like the time me gets to spend alone with me thoughts and for some reason a poem returned to me while there.
Me couldn't recall the entire piece, but me found it once Me got back home.
Here it be for you.

The Negro Speaks of Rivers

I've known rivers:I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the flow of human blood in human veins.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
I bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were young.I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep.
I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it.

I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln went down to New Orleans, and I've seen its muddy bosom turn all golden in the sunset.
I've known rivers:Ancient, dusky rivers. My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
-- Langston Hughes
It may have all been said before, but not in the way we have to offer it to each other.

Beautiful post, SM. And I love the poem, which I don't recall having read before.
