Field of Dreams.

This month, The ever fluttering Nessa over at Wings Unfolding be displaying photos related to a harvest theme. Quite appropriate for October, really. Go be seein it fer yerself.
Me contribution will be a something that been fascinatin me for a couple of years now.

Every year since 1993 in a tiny little town called Inakadate; located in Aomori, the northern most prefecture of Japan, an amazing piece of art is created.
Hundreds of people with lots of time on their hands work together to plant for or five different kinds of rice plants to create a living mural. This years piece was a depiction of two of Hokusai's 36 views of Mt. Fuji. Here be a series of photos from planting to harvest.

Me ain't too certain iffin this explains the inordinately high price fer Japanese rice. 25 lbs can cost you about $30. If ya wants to check out the other field pictures you can see them here. Me almost guarantees that you have never seen anything like this before.

Me no play with me food.

I'm off of Grunty's tit too. Amazing. I never heard of this.

Reminds me of the Buddhist or Navajo sand art.
