Discussion Seduction
Please go here first
Me don't want to take up space on the comment section of other folks blogs.
There be plenty of folks who will agree to dissagree with me here at me home; plus Me enjoys the advantage of preaching from me own pulpit.
You all leave great comments and probably have friends and contemporaries that are a lot more knowlegeble than me be, so feel free to invite them along for the ride.
Me believes this will be fun.
Global Warming~
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Whether Me thinks it be silly or nonsensical be of little importance, inciting discussion is. We as human kind have believed in a myriad of incredibly fantastic things long before proof was finally supplied by time or technology. One major item Me can think of is the atom, concieved in the minds of the greeks long before scientists proved it's existence. Another was the Idea that Elvis presely really is the king of rock n roll. Global warming isn't something that we must accept without empirical evidence. Were not talking theology here, it is possible, and has been for a very long time now, to study the records of weather patterns and deduce for ourselves just where the current trends will lead. This doesn't take a whole lot of intelligence or extropolation on one's part, just some common sense (unless you still believe in stacking turtles).
Me simply don't agree with Al Gore that we are on the brink of the event horizon, the powerful images that were portrayed in An inconvenient truth are based on theories that were proposed many years ago, but have been finely tuned by very fine minds to instill a sense of impending doom. There are others out there who are just as talented who can create images and express opinions that will sway you in the opposite direction.
A simple solution to avoid the rhetoric is to go out and take a look for yourself. Don't read someone else's words (excluding me thoughts, of course) get off your duff and ask your own questions- find your own answers.
Me no hot under the collar.
P.S. The picture placed in this post was taken in Hawaii on a skydiving adventure with Me good friend NYD.

Al Gore is taking the role of salesman right now. A salesman will always make something seem better than it really is inorder to get people to act. There is little doubt that the weather is changing right now, but there is plenty of doubt as to the cause. al Gore believes he knows the cause and is trying to motivate people to act by presenting the worst case possible.
I would rather each person take some personal responsiblity instead of always pointing fingers at what other people should be doing. That is my main problem with Al Gore's selling job right now- he is using the reality of global warming to advance his own personal ideals.
Kanrei me friend. Did you read the Cabo post?
Of course =D I may not always comment, but I do always read.
We could all approach this from a pragmatic standpoint...would it be generally good for everyone if we were all mindful of how we spend our resources? It can't HURT right? So let's all stop debating on the cause and just be good keepers of the planet we live on...just my 2 cents :-)
and BTW....really great photo...I love Hawaii...been there twice :-)
Mahalo Aloha
perhaps it's happening; perhaps not. Indeed we need to clean up our act (I'm not going to even mention the ecological disaster that the former Soviet Union left eastern europe in), but we all need to do our part.
Unfortunately, even though the movie has undeniably interesting and informative scenes in it, Gore makes a horrible overstatement by calling it the greatest threat to mankind, or whatever the exact words were.
The last time anyone said anything that far off the mark was when Custer said, "I'll be right back. No one up on that ridge except old men, women and children."
Ooooops
Kanrei~ Do you think that Gore might be using this stuff as a platform for a political comeback? Me things the possibility be there...
leelee~ Just two cents worth? Spend more girl! Dump the whole change purse out on us here. LOL
Mahalo! :)
jl4~ Yes, me agrees with you on the point of extreme language.
One can prove one's point without resorting to hyperbole.
Gore is mounting a comeback, but this has been his issue for a very long time. I think he honestly believes most of what he is saying, but exaggerating it for effect.
