Scary Munster
There be times when me has so many things to take care of that me overlooks that which might seem incosequential, but be really important.
Remembering to thank and recognize those whose efforts have a positive influence on our life should always be at the top of out "to do" list.
Right about now, some of you might be thinking that Me is going to write about the great Dr. Martin Luther King jr. You be mistaken. There are no words Me could toss out into the ether that would be able to capture the heroic spirit and actions he displayed. The man speaks for himself and will do so long as there be humans willing to fight injustice until we become that which we were put on this earth to be.
Instead Me would like to pay tribute to those who helped me when Me was just a little salamander, brought up by a cyclopian baby sitter.
The first bit of sadness occurred in 1993 when papa left us.
Then it happened again last year when Grampa settled in his coffin for the last time.
A short while ago mama left us and Me is saddened.
The exceptionally beautiful Yvonne De Carlo AKA: Lillian Munster passed away and Me can't help but feel that as me gets older the things that have shaped me are slowly and resolutely disappearing. Me has, like many folks given tribute to James Brown, but to be honest he didn't enter me life until me was an adult (physically if not emotionally) The Munsters, the Addams family, the Brady's, Get Smart, the Partridge's, Steve Austin, Cain (Bruce lee, my man)and the flying nun did so much more to entertain and educate, yup Me said educate.
Me believes Me grew up in a time that was a lot simpler than the way the world seems today. Maybe Me is mistaking ignorance and naivete for a nostalgic trip into the past. I just can't imagine that kids growing up today will be writing about Paris hilton or Sponge Bob square pants 30 or 40 years from now.
What were your TV shows?
What images do you recall from your past??
Whose lunch box did you want at the start of the school year???
C'mon Fonzie bang the jukebox one more time!

The Electric Company is a big one from my childhood as well as The Great Space Coaster. I was always more an Adams Family guy over the Munsters. I think the biggest part of my childhood I love is the smell of a new toy being opened for the first time. I still collect action figures to this day mainly for that smell.
Oh- The Electric COmpany! I loved that show, but had forgotten about it- there was another- "The Big Blue Marble" and Zoom...I always wished like mad I could be on Zoom!
Land of the Lost- one of my favorites...
The Love Boat- Mork and Mindy :)
WHen I was in college I discovered MASH re-runs- and finally understood why the grown ups like the show.
Ok- that's enough :)
Hope you have a good weekend SM :)
I grew up (and I'm including my young adult years in that 'growing up' period) on certain shows that I think helped mold my personality. In that sense, they are a part of my childhood, a part of me.
Some of the shows included Leave It To Beaver, Father Knows Best, Captain Kangaroo, The Bradys & The Partridges, Mary Tyler Moore, Laugh-In, The Man From UNCLE, The Twilight Zone. And yes, you bet The Munsters and The Addams Family were in my lineup.
Captain Kangaroo, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, The Muppet Show, S.W.A.T., Emergency, The A-Team, Welcome Back Kotter, The Six Million Dollar Man, Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny...there were others but these were some of my favorites!!
Captain Kangaroo, Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, The Real McCoys, Lassie, Petticoat Junction, I Love Lucy, Ed Sullivan, The Ted Mack Amateur Hour, Deputy Dog, Hekyl and Jekyl, Roadrunner, Bewitched, Father Knows Best, Loretta Young, Make Room for Daddy, The Incredible Hulk, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, That Girl, Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, The Munsters, Addams Family, The Wild, Wild West, WKRP in Cincinnati, Barney Miller, Welcome Back Kotter, All in the Family, Benny Hill, American Bandstand, Laugh-In, Saturday Night Live (original cast). Apparently, there was very little I didn't watch.
